Link to the January 2014 Demo
Hello everyone! It's been a while since my last post, hasn't it? I didn't think I'd have much of a reason to make more posts on the forum, but here I am again after reading some of the recent posts. They seemed to mention that the download links for the game were no longer working, and when I went to see for myself the Mega link indeed wasn't working. (I didn't bother with the other one, but the site doesn't sound trustworthy regardless.) It appears at some point, Z-Fied or whoever's MEGA account that contained the demo, was terminated. I don't know why, but it was.
I thankfully had a copy of the demo file on my computer, I thought I'd deleted it before, but at some point I must've had the urge to take one more look at it. I'm glad I did!
I repacked the files into a .7z file, added shortcuts to the forum and blog, and lastly added a small piece to the changelog. The rest of the contents are identical to the original .zip file which was found over on Z-Fied's development blog.
You can find the file here, Hosted on MEGA.
The password to access/decrypt the .7z file itself once downloaded is: itsANewDownloadLink!
NOTE: To decompress the file, you need to use a program like 7-Zip.
A Message to Z-Fied
Hello again Z-Fied, it's been a while since I, or I assume anyone else, has heard anything from you. If want to remove this link once you fix the download links on the blog, feel free to do so!
I know I have no real right to ask this, but given how long it's been since the community has heard anything or has seen any new content/demos for the game, I'd like to make a public request of you. Please release the source files for Resident Evil: Progeny and any of the unfinished assets/builds you may have. I'm not trying to sound malicious, and I'm not trying to force you into something you'd rather not do, but please hear me out.
I've watched this project for a long time. Once I started to see its decline and fade into obscurity I panicked. The game had a lot of promise, and I believe it still does. I tried starting from scratch on my own project, and I failed. However, that doesn't mean I want any of this to disappear forever into the sands of time. A lot of talented people, including myself, still reside in this ever shrinking community/fanbase. A fair few of them reached out to me during and even after my own attempt at a Progeny style game. If we had access to the files and your permission to work on it as a community or allow anyone to do as they see fit with the project, I believe it would greatly benefit the project. You could even manage it over a Github style repository, if that's what you wanted to do. I just ask that, after all this radio silence and lack of meaningful updates, you have a think about letting the remaining community take the game into its own hands.
Please consider my request Z-Fied. Thank you for reading.
